Success Story | Longsheng Livestock Farm
Biogas Supply System Upgrade: Variable-Frequency Constant-Pressure Control for Gas Stability, Quiet Operation, and Energy Efficiency
• Equipment Implemented: Silent Type Rotary Vane Blower, Variable-Frequency Constant-Pressure Control System
• Application Areas: Pig Farming / Livestock, Biogas Supply System, Piglet House Heating Equipment
1. Client Needs & On-Site Challenges
Located in central Taiwan, Longsheng Livestock Farm is primarily engaged in pig farming. To provide an appropriate warm environment for piglets during winter, the farm uses Biogas Heating Lamps as heating equipment. However, the traditional biogas pressurization system faced several challenges during operation, including unstable gas supply pressure, inconsistent heating output, high operational noise, and low Energy Efficiency.
When the number of active Biogas Heating Lamps increased or decreased, the system could not respond immediately or effectively to gas demand changes. This caused flame intensity fluctuation among lamps, leading to temperature variation in the piglet pens.
Furthermore, traditional pressurization equipment ran at full speed continuously once started. Even when actual gas demand dropped, the motor maintained a high speed, increasing mechanical wear, power consumption, and operational noise.
To solve these issues, Sun Mines Electrics proposed an upgraded solution using a Silent Type Rotary Vane Blower combined with a Variable-Frequency Constant-Pressure Control System to enhance gas supply stability and operational convenience.
2. Main Issues with the Original System
- Unstable Gas Pressure & Flame Fluctuations
When the number of active heating lamps changed, the legacy system failed to maintain stable supply pressure. Active Biogas Heating Lamps experienced flame fluctuations due to the switching of other equipment, making temperature control in piglet pens difficult.
- Inconvenient Ignition Procedure & Biogas Leakage Risk
The traditional ignition method required pre-adjusting ball valves on multiple heating lamps before starting the pressurization blower. This caused biogas to escape before ignition, creating operational hassle and increasing safety risks on site.
- Continuous Full-Speed Operation & Poor Energy Efficiency
Traditional equipment operated at full speed constantly without adjusting motor speed based on actual gas demand. When demand dropped, high-speed operation continued, leading to unnecessary power consumption and higher equipment strain.
- High Noise Level Impacting Working Environment
Lacking speed control mechanisms, the equipment continuously operated at maximum speed, producing noticeable noise and leaving room for improvement in the workplace environment.
3. Solutions & Equipment Improvements
To address Longsheng Livestock Farm's specific needs, Sun Mines Electrics implemented the following solutions:
- Solution 1 | Implementation of Silent Type Rotary Vane Blower
Installing a Silent Type Rotary Vane Blower paired with variable-frequency control addressed the noise issues caused by constant full-speed operation, improving overall working environment quality.
- Solution 2 | Adoption of Variable-Frequency Constant-Pressure Control System
Through an inverter and pressure sensing mechanism, the Variable-Frequency Constant-Pressure Control System automatically adjusts motor speed according to real-time system pressure and gas demand. When demand for Biogas Heating Lamps increases and pressure drops, the control system increases motor speed to meet supply needs; when demand decreases and pressure rises, motor speed slows down to keep pressure within the set target range. By dynamically adjusting speed, full-speed continuous operation is eliminated, achieving both gas supply stability and high Energy Efficiency.
- Solution 3 | Optimized Ignition Procedure for Biogas Heating Lamps
With constant-pressure control active, operators can simply open the ball valve on the specific Biogas Heating Lamp needed for ignition without pre-opening multiple valves. This reduces pre-ignition biogas leakage, enhancing operating convenience and safety management.
- Solution 4 | Stabilized Heating Flame & Reduced Over-Heating Impacts
Maintaining stable supply pressure minimizes flame intensity fluctuations caused by turning lamps on/off or changing demand, avoiding excessive or insufficient heat output. This keeps the piglet heating environment steady while preventing high heat from reducing the lifespan of the Biogas Heating Lamps.
4. Benefits Post-Implementation
- More Stable Gas Pressure for Better Environment Control
With the Variable-Frequency Constant-Pressure Control System adjusting operational speed dynamically, flame interference between Biogas Heating Lamps is minimized, maintaining consistent heating.
- Improved Ignition Safety & Reduced Gas Leakage
Lighting lamps on demand reduces biogas escape caused by pre-opened valves in traditional workflows, increasing operational convenience and safety.
- Demand-Based Speed Regulation & Higher Energy Efficiency
When gas demand decreases, the control system automatically reduces motor speed instead of running at full speed. Compared to fixed full-speed setups, this control mode boosts Energy Efficiency and cuts unnecessary power consumption (actual energy savings depend on operating conditions and site measurements).
- Lower Operational Noise for an Improved Working Environment
Combining the Silent Type Rotary Vane Blower with frequency control reduces equipment speed during low-demand periods, effectively dampening continuous full-speed noise.
- Reduced Equipment Wear from High-Speed Operation
Adjusting motor speed based on Biogas Supply System demands prevents prolonged unnecessary high-speed operation, reducing mechanical load and extending equipment lifespan.
5. Conclusion | Smart Control & Stable Supply for Better Farm Management
The upgrade at Longsheng Livestock Farm proves that upgrading a Biogas Supply System requires more than just changing pressurization equipment. It requires integrating gas pressure control, demand adaptation, ignition workflows, and Energy Efficiency to truly solve operational challenges.
By deploying a Silent Type Rotary Vane Blower with a Variable-Frequency Constant-Pressure Control System, Sun Mines Electrics helped Longsheng Livestock Farm resolve issues like pressure fluctuation, inconsistent flames, inconvenient ignition, and continuous full-speed operation.
From stable supply to speed-on-demand control, operating Biogas Heating Lamps is now easier, quieter, and more energy-efficient. Choosing the right blower and control system delivers reliable supply and efficient management, creating a dependable heating environment for livestock farming.
